What is a Wiki?
A Wiki is an encyclopedia written collaboratively by its readers. You're welcome to add to articles, or start a new one. You are even free to copy, change or distribute articles. This model is called a wiki.
How can this work?
Many people are constantly improving Wikipedia, making hundreds of changes an hour, so it becomes bigger and better every day.
All changes are recorded, both on the page history and Recent Changes. If an article gets messed up, anyone can easily fix it. We also have an informal Recent Changes patrol checking what gets changed, so nonsense and vandalism usually get removed quickly.
How can I help?
Be bold and start editing! Anyone can edit. Don't worry about breaking Wikipedia or about whether your writing is proper — if needed, it can be improved later.
Usernames
Anyone can contribute to Wikipedia, even anonymous users. But many users have decided to create a username of their own. Why create an account?
